Replacing a Tanking System
Traditional forms of waterproofing, such as basement tanking, can be effective if installed correctly. Over time, however, it is not uncommon for traditional tanking systems to fail.
There are a variety of internal and external basement waterproofing systems to choose from. The video above shows an example of a cementitious tanking system that has been pushed away from the wall due to a build up of hydrostatic pressure.
In this instance, the tanking system will be replaced with a combination of cavity wall membranes, drainage channels, and a sump pump to ensure a waterproof environment. These modern waterproofing systems will manage and control any water ingress as opposed to simply holding it back. This approach should eliminate any chance of failure due to cracks and leaks in the future.
